We recognize that informal assessment is an essential component of psychological treatment. A thorough understanding of our patients and their life circumstances is instrumental to the treatment process. We also conduct formal, stand-alone Psychodiagnostic Assessments to determine individuals’ psychological status and functioning (e.g., diagnosis) and needs for various purposes other than to inform our own provision of treatment.
Our Psychodiagnostic Assessments are both comprehensive and highly tailored to individuals and their presenting concerns. The following components may be included in the assessment process: (a) direct patient contacts (e.g., interview, testing, and feedback sessions), (b) meetings with parents/caregivers, (c) meetings with other professionals (e.g., school personnel, health care providers), (d) context-specific behavioural observation (e.g., in-school observation), (e) scoring and interpretation of test results, (f) case formulation, and (g) completion of a written report, academic/workplace accommodation form, or feedback summary.
Payment and Fees
Psychodiagnostic Assessments are priced at $225.00 per hour (or $225.00 per 50-minute session for direct patient contacts and patient-related meetings). The total cost of an assessment is dependent on the total time spent to complete it. Due to our individualized approach, the overall fee for this service is variable. For adults, the fee typically ranges from $1125.00 to $3375.00 (5 to 15 hours of work). For children and adolescents, the fee typically ranges from $2250.00 to $4500.00 (10 to 20 hours of work). Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to provide a more precise estimate of this cost up front, as the ultimate course of an assessment can only be determined based on data collected once it is already underway. We make every effort to conduct assessments in a manner that is transparent, so that pricing can be anticipated and tracked as the process unfolds.
Payment may be made by cash, cheque, or Interac e-Transfer.
Psychological services are not covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Our services are covered in part or full by most extended health care plans (i.e., workplace and student benefits) and by several government programs, including Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Children’s Aid Society. For income tax purposes, psychological services may be claimed as a medical expense.
We schedule daytime and evening appointments. Please contact us to schedule an appointment or to request more information about our Psychodiagnostic Assessments.
